Bad Muskau · Upper Lusatia
Our salt comes from a state-recognised healing spring that has lain beneath the Fürst Pückler Park for millions of years. No sea, no mine, no refinery – a brine that is evaporated gently and lifted out by hand.
The difference
Supermarket salt takes one of two routes: from the sea, which today carries measurable microplastic pollution, or from a mine, where it is blasted, ground and then refined. In both cases anti-caking agents are added at the end so the powder stays free-flowing.
Our route is different and considerably slower. The brine rises from 1.586 metres, is evaporated at low temperature, and the crystals that form are lifted out of the pan by hand. What remains is salt and nothing else.
Every crystal is lifted from the brine by hand.
The range
The same boiled salt in seven forms – from the gift jar for the table to the kitchen pouch. The seasoned salts contain nothing but salt and what the label says.

The spring
The borehole is designated Hy Bad Muskau 1/2000 and is officially recognised as a healing spring. It lies 1.586 metres deep in the Muskau Arch, a rock formation folded upwards by an Ice Age glacier.
The brine at that depth is around three times as salty as the Mediterranean and has had no contact with the surface since it formed. That is precisely why it cannot contain microplastics – there was simply no way in.
830 hectares of UNESCO World Heritage – and the brine beneath it.
Not all salt is the same. Much of what we use every day is nowhere near as pure as we believe. This is the salt I give my own family. Kurt Korte · owner and salt boiler
